I’m going to discuss the several methods of unlocking an Android phone; both in potential and from carriers.
First of all, to unlock your Android from your current carrier, you’ll need an unlock code. Unlock codes are not easy to come by. The easiest solution would be to just by an unlocked Android phone from say ebay or amazon. However, these are much more expensive because you won’t get the discount that cell phone carriers give you for signing up for a contract. The 2nd easiest way is to buy an unlock code. I won’t mention any specific sites but I’m sure you can find a unlocking site by searching on a search engine. The hardest way is to call your cell phone carrier and ask for a code. Now this might seem like it would fail, but it’s actually a good idea. Your carrier will likely provide you with the unlock code for your Android phone if its been a while since you first subscribed to them.
Next, I want to talk about how to „unlock” your Android’s full potential. The Android is an open source operating system that was acquired by Google. It’s much easy to hack it than an iPhone or and other typical smartphone. To gain full access to your phone, you want to „root” it. What does this mean?
If you aren’t familiar with computer hacking terms, root is the base user of a computer that has full access to everything. By rooting your phone, you will gain full access to all the files and applications on the Android. This will allow you to do things such as import third party custom ROMs and widgets to have a unique Android phone.
Anyways, the first step to rooting your phone is to download an Android ROM file to replace your current build. Then connect your Android to your computer and flash the ROM over. There are many videos that can show you a step by step process if you don’t know how to do this. Once you have your phone rooted, you should download all the new apps that provide special options of root users; these new options include: faster phone speed and more updated hardware support.
